What did I learn from reading the novels of Sherlock Holmes?
Two months ago, I started reading the short stories and the novels of the famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, this character was created by the renowned British writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in the 19th century, in the past I heard about this character, but I was not interested about it, until I decided to start Reading by myself, it was actually worth all the surrounding fame, and now I understand why there are a lot of TV shows, films, and books about this character, it’s a special one, and now I have read all the 56 short stories of Sherlock Holmes and the first three novels, and I have only one novel left to read, to complete all the works related to Sherlock Holmes by the original author himself, and here I would like to share with you some of the things that I have learned from this character, which I believe should be studied deeply from the psychological aspect.
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson
There are some points I would like to focus on regarding this character:
1) The scientific method: Sherlock Holmes always applies the scientific method in his work, and he always tries to find a rational reason for everything that faces him and tries to avoid superstitious explanations, and that was very obvious in the novel
The Hound of the Baskervilles, also by using the scientific method, He would be able to limit his choices and make sure that only things that fit should be considered to complete his series of actions during his work.
2) Give time to tasks and duties:
Sherlock Holmes is always a patient man, he is ready to wait for days to do something specific, even if it is a simple thing, because he believes that if you have a good plan, you should apply it perfectly and accurately.
3) you can depend on your good friends:
Sherlock Holmes trusts his close friend Dr. Watson, who helped him significantly during his cases, and therefore your friend could be a good help to you, and you can learn a lot from your friends, especially if you are different from each other.
4) it’s not enough to work, you have to work in the right way:
It’s necessary to work hard, but at the same time, you should work smartly, to make sure that what you’re doing is actually beneficial, and eventually you will reach the result that you’re looking for.
5) Make sure that there is free time for your hobbies and what you like to do:
Sherlock Holmes is a good detective, but he also has time for different hobbies because he thinks that in this way his brain would be able to function better and, therefore, he will think better, for example, he likes to play the violin, which could help him to focus more and to clear his mind.
6) Take your life seriously:
In general, Sherlock Holmes is a serious man, he likes to take things seriously.
