First degree equation solution Solve the following equation for the unknown value of X : 3+X=4 first step is to determine how many unknowns we have , we have one unknown which is X. second step is to make the unknown in one side and the values in other side, now let assume that the left side for the unknown value and the right side for the known value, to do that we add -3 to both sides and we add -4 to both side, because if we add the same number to both side nothing will change the equal sigh will still truthful. Now, what we have is : +3 + X = +4 And after adding -3 to both sides we will end up with : : +3 - 3 + X = +4 -3 , which is equal to : X = 1 And that is exactly what we are looking for.
